Cigarette smoking and tobacco burning

According to the WHO, more than 5 million people die from diseases caused by smoking annually. Smoking is not just a bad habit, but a dangerous addiction.

Smoking is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular, chronic respiratory diseases, cancer, and diabetes.

Most deaths from smoking and disability are associated with these diseases. In the case of trachea, bronchial, and lung cancer, for example, tobacco is the main cause of death in almost 90% of cases. More people die from smoking than from any other preventable cause of death in the world. About 8.7 million people die from tobacco use, and up to $1.4 trillion is lost due to healthcare costs and reduced labor productivity every year. Most of the smoking victims (7.4 million) are smokers themselves, but another 1.3 million deaths are caused by passive smoking.
