Emotional and psychological state

Emotional and psychological disorders diminish the quality of life, reduce motivation, and minimize adherence to a healthy lifestyle. They also affect emotional well-being and overall mood.

A person's emotional and psychological state directly depends on several factors, including somatic diseases, intoxications, injuries, socio-economic events, and more. All of these can influence emotional well-being and overall mood.

Acute and chronic psycho-emotional tension (stress), anxiety and depressive states, burnout, hostility, and anger are the primary factors that increase the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

All emotional and psychological disorders worsen the quality of life, exacerbate the course of NCDs, reduce motivation for treatment, and minimize adherence to a healthy lifestyle. The most common disorders are mood disorders (affective disorders) — depression and/or anxiety.
